Abel Jaramillo graduated in Fine Arts at the Universidad de Castilla la Mancha (Spain), and at Universidade de Lisboa (Portugal). He obtained his Masters in Contemporary, Technological and Performance Art by the Universidad del País Vasco (Spain).
Abel Jaramillo develops his work through the search of strategies that alter or subvert the habitual logic of understanding different contexts. He is interested in the cracks of history, the stories in the margins, how they are produced and builds different discourses and the political tensions which are projected in the everyday. His practice focuses on the frictions and dissensions that are produced when dialoguing events, actions and images that reveal historical relationships, present conflicts and future speculations. Through hybrid processes that include video, installation, performance, sculpture, text and photography, he investigates the construction of history from below, the production of discourses and the relationship between stories, territories, margins and peripheries. |
